The Nova Scotia boats used the newer version pf the mumps, Capilano model 1250V. The Taiwan-built boats used the Capilano Model 250V pumps.
Neil, The first thing we need to clarify is which helm pumps you actually have. (My auto pilot was leaking, so I just shut off the feeds to the unit until I can get one that's compatible with my plotter.) It's pretty easy, but slow and messy. Before you start this process I suggest you wipe everything down and check for leaks. (Make sure you have diapers down there will be leakage.) They bleed just like the brakes on your car. There are two bleed screws, one on either side of the box. At the same time, have another friend below on the box mounted directly on the inside of the transom, accessed through the swing hatch behind the master bed. You want to do this kind of slowly so you don't introduce more air into the system. Start to slowly fill while turning the wheel full lock to lock. Use a small funnel, or a squeeze bottle with the bottom cut out. We took the instrument panel off (super easy, nothing had to be disconnected) and filled through what is technically the overflow. The refill cap is on the upper helm, but we had an issue with not being able to move the wheel while filling because of placement.
